Sikkim and Darjeeling tour
Sikkim
Sikkim, an independent kingdom ruled by Chhogyal till 1975 but
now a state of the Indian Union lies between Nepal and Bhutan.
The state of Sikkim is crowned by majestic peaks of Mt.
Kanchanjunga (8586m) and other peaks of the same range. Mt.
Kanchanjunga in regarded as the Guardian Deity that guards the
population of Sikkim and no one is ever allowed to step on the
summit of this holy peak from Sikkim Side and this is evident
from the first successful expedition of this mountain that kept
the promise alive by not stepping on the summit of this
mountain. The state is inhabited by Nepali, Sikkimese and
Lepchas. Though a small state, this land has to offer many
activities to the visitors – mountaineering, trekking, cultural
tours, religions tours, rafting etc. to name a few. A visit of
this Himalayan Paradise can be combined with a visit of Nepal
and Bhutan as Sikkim is easily accessible from Nepal and Bhutan.
For the visitors interested in visiting Sikkim only, the nearest
airport is Bagdogra from where there are regular flights to
Delhi and Calcutta (Kolkatta). The nearest railway station is
New Jalpaiguri from where there are vehicular services to any
part of Sikkim. The major places of this tiny state are Gangtok
(the state capital), Lachung, Yumthang, Geyzing, Pemayangtse and
Yoksom. Though we offer different treks and tours in Sikkim, the
most enchanting is the Kanchanjunga Base Camp (Goechala) Trek
that involves 10 days from Yoksom to Yoksom and can be completed
in about 15 days including the land transportation and
preparation for the trek. The vegetation of this state is very
much similar to that of Nepal.
Darjeeling
Darjeeling, appropriately attributed as the “Queen of the Hills”
is situated in the lap of the Kanchanjunga Range with towering
Mt. Kanchanjunga (8586m) crowning the beautiful land that had
been chosen by the British for the purpose of summer residence,
sanitarium, schools for their children etc. Kanchanjunga is not
only regarded as the crown of Darjeeling but it is also kept in
high esteem as the Guardian of Prosperity and well being of the
people living in its laps. The hilly slopes were rightly chosen
by the British people for Tea plantation making the tiny hilly
station famous throughout the world as the producer of very
tasty and aromatic beverage. The Toy Train that is pulled by
Steam Engine reaches an altitude of 7147 ft. before descending
to Darjeeling en-route winding in the famous Batasia Loop
offering welcoming view of the Darjeeling township with crowning
Kanchanjunga Range on the background. An early morning trip to
Tiger Hill is best rewarded by the sight of the rising sun and
the effect of the colour that it casts on the whole of
Kanchanjunga Range – this is the view that is unmatched. This
land has so much to offer for its valued visitors who are always
welcome with never ending smiles in the faces of the people
belonging to almost all the ethnic groups of Nepal following
their own religious and cultural practices. For leisurely
visitors this is a true paradise as one can spend months
together exploring this small hill station and its surroundings.
Treks and tours are the common activities that one can indulge
in. We have so much to offer you as regards Sikkim and
Darjeeling and your queries are always most awaited.
