This is the second popular trekking in Nepal with the high efficiency and competitive facilities of lodges and resorts and lies in the eastern part of Nepal. During the trekking anyone can enjoy the breathtaking view of Mt. Everest (Sagarmatha – Nepali name) along with Lhotse, Cho Oyu, Nuptse, Pumari, Thamserku, Amadablam etc. It is the land of Sherpas. Broken into deep gorges and glacial valleys. The trekking area is covered by Sagarmatha National Park and the total area measured for this park is 1148 sq km. The area has vegetation graduating from pine, hemlock, fir, juniper, birch, rhododendrons and shrubs to alpine plants and then to bare rock and snow. The area is home to the Himalayan tahr, ghoral, serow and musk deer. Common birds are the impeyan, pheasant, blood pheasant, red-billed cough and the yellow-billed cough. Elevation ranges from 2845 – 8848 m. Trekking in this region starts either form Jiri or from Lukla (50 mins airtrip from Kathmandu).

The Everest base camp & Gokyo Lakes trek leads you up the Khumbu valley where there are not as many tourists as on the main trail to the base camp. Experience the hospitality of the Sherpas while enjoying views of Mt. Everest, Amadablam, Thamserku, Cho Oyu and Lhotse from the summit of Gokyo RI and Gokyo lakes.
